William G. Morgan was the inventor of Volleyball. William was born in New York city January 23, 1870. He died in December 27, 1942. William G. Morgan was married to Marry King. 1895 was the year William G. Morgan invented Volleyball. The first game was at Springfield College July 7, 1896. In 1995 the sport Volleyball was finally 100 years old. The first woman game was played on July 17, 1896. The United States won their first medals in 1984 men got gold ones and women got silver ones.

He met James Naismith in 1891 at Springfield. William was inspired by James Naismith's game of basketball. The game was very similar to the game of faustball and some more sports. A trophy was named in the honor of William Morgan.

1896- That was when the firts game was held at the
Spring field College.
1896- The first womens game was played in July 17,1896.
